i'm not really using hotbuild to its full extend, because i don't memorize the buttons for the units in factories well.
so now i've tackled that.

this should work for any key combination that is less than two characters long (for example a single letter will work, but not something like 'space' or 'comma', just becaus the text length would be inconvenient)
naturally, this works for all factions and for your individual keybinding setup (unless the names of your keys are too long).

some units (e.g. mobile t3 AA seem to miss in hotbuild itself, so no hotkeys for them)



download mod:

extract, put into C:\Users\%USERNAME%\Documents\My Games\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\Mods and enable in the mod manager

Not working !

If i download and unpack the zip archiv, it will create a folder named "faf-hotkeyLabels-master".
(because "faf-hotkeyLabels-master" is stored inside the zip, not "hotkeyLabels")
But scripts inside the mod are using as filepath: /mods/hotkeyLabels/.
After renaming "faf-hotkeyLabels-master" to "hotkeyLabels" it works as intended.

Also Hotkey labels are covering the bigger strategic icons.
Select "Bigger Strategic Build Icons" = full, and this will be shown:

Maybe moving the label to the bottom right corner ?

And please add a option to show/hide those labels. Maybe with a position choice like "right bottom / right top" ?

Should be nice for implementing into the main game.

Uhh i have large icons with no issue, and didnt have file issue either

the "faf-hotkeyLabels-master" name is a git inconvenience, renaming it is the correct thing to do, can't do much about that. i'm just uploading the zip here though, that should avoid annoying renaming

i've moved the labels to the bottom of the icons, to not block the larger strategic icons anymore

also changed the rule which keys to show, it should no longer show "aa" (which is a hotbuild category), hopefully it still shows F1 to F12, in case someone uses that

sorry, just noticed that the previous file was screwed up (displayed stuff it should remove), screw F1-F12, might look at that when i have some more time

Holy crap, what a great idea!

I assume that the mod will automatically assign each letter to the right unit/building according to your specific hotkey setup, correct?

yes, but it only adds labels for keys that are just one character long (no 'space', 'comma', etc, and no combinations with e.g. Alt)
