Generic RTS features that are missing?

Just take a look at AoE II for example.

I know that people requested stuff for the minimap since ages (no icons, alerts)

but what about visual and audio cues when stuff is being built completely? you know like in every other rts ever, i know it is somewhat possible with Washy's notifications mod, but what about more?

Also, i cant seem to find a generic "cycle factories" hotkey in hotbuild. maybe im just dumb and should learn to use control groups, and yeah "cycle idle factories" is also nice, but isnt there an alternative possible?

I think these sounds got removed once they've tried it and realized it would be nonstop something spamming :D since FAF has bit more buildings than other RTS games.

There's quite a long list of available ones. http://pastebin.com/X6dGZt3M So if anyone decided to use them in mod, they should be easy™ to use.

I can't even listen to music most of the time as there are already quite alot of audio indicators for stuff happening.
From the ACU under attack to the high fire rate of a seraphim gun upgrade to a various other units firing or even factories completing. Sometimes you hear the firebeetles crawl even ;)

i'm pretty sure i used to have a hotkey to toggle factory repeat, so there should be one somewhere in the hotkey settings. Otherwise i can recommend UI-Party - you can have all factories to start with repeat building enabled with this mod.

i use this hotkey too, didnt mean factory repeat but cycling the selection of factories. Should be doable with the "do-it-yourself" hotkeys.

why not leave the option for people who want that?

besides, the "factory completed" sound doesnt play when you're not looking, any way to change this?

Because, in this game, a construction project being completed is not worthy of your attention. Things are being built all the time. Also, if you are playing in a way which requires you to know when things are being finished, you're doing it wrong. You should always be putting factories on repeat build and giving extra commands to your construction units so that they move seamlessly from one job to the next. The shift key is your friend.
