Black Ops Build Menu Temp FIX!

So, I'm relatively new to playing Black Ops for FAF and I've been struggling to play due to a bug which causes my in-game Build Menu to disappear for any engineering units or build power. I have done some "Snooping" and found a fix for this problem just in-case anyone else is having the same problem as I did.

You will require 2 programs to gain access to the SCD files of Supreme Commander and edit the files as necessary:
- WinRAR worked.
- Notepad or Notepad++

This implementation worked for me dude to a mission Variable in a file in the main game directory of Supreme which you can find in either your Steam directory or your CD Copy Directory.

I can't guarantee this will fix any other bugs related to Black Ops but this fix has worked and restored my build menu to life.

Here are the basics:
1) You need to direct yourself to this path (For mine it's the steam path):
Code: Select all
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\gamedata

2) You need to open the Lua.SCD with WinRAR.
3) Once inside the file, you need to click a series of folders in order to access the file:
Lua->ui->game
4) Open up the Contruction.lua file.
5) Add one line of code to the file in order to fix:
Code: Select all
local updateQueue = true

6) Save the file and update the WinRAR Archive.
7) Your Code should look like this after:

8) All Finished, your build menu will now work!


This worked for me on my end. It could have been a problem locally but I thought I would post a fix just to aid anyone else who is struggling with the same glitch that I was. A fair warning to you, this bug effected my Steam Copy too.

Unfortunately, didn't work for me. But I'll bump the thread anyway because you've really done your homework and people deserve to see this--maybe it'll work for someone else! I bork around with stuff that I'm not supposed to anyway, so I coulda broken something :P

I can take a look at your error if you need it fixing. All you have to do is launch a game with the mod enabled and once your commander has spawned, click him and press F9. A debugger will appear with an error of which your having. It's usually right at the bottom of the debugger. Post it here and I'll make some suggestions on how to fix it.

Hey Thanks for this. It fixed my game.
However, I had to go here; C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander - Forged Alliance\gamedata

I'll try this, I have that build menu issue with Black ops and several other mods that are unusable be a use of it.

Hello All,

please dont change gamefiles. It may cause desync error in multiplayer games.

If u play the newest game Version (3652beta), there is a updated version of BlackOps. Link to the BlackOps Thread:

I also updated some other mods for 3652beta if u like:

I haven't had any desync errors Uveso and I've played plenty of games since I posted this fix. I was able to test this fix before I posted it here and I've not seen or heard of any desync problems. Please, don't post things here without proof. I do appreciate your concern however, so thanks for the feedback. Please bare in mind that my game files have been changed and this fix has been added to it, no problems on my end. Thanks.

May I recommend testing your mods before posting them to a live community, it shouldn't have to come down to me to fix the problems that half the players are having with it.
