Unit buttons

Postby quark036 » 12 Aug 2015, 15:56

Hello all,

Does anyone know how to change the buttons in the bottom left of the ui that control the unit? I mean the ones like surface/submerge, launch nuke, overcharge, etc. I feel like I saw some information on this somewhere, but I can't find it, so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Quark

I meant code wise, adding a different toggle to a unit.

the buttons themselves are in this code:
/lua/ui/game/orders.lua

you probably have to find your unit blueprint and add a certain category to give it that ability... then some extra fields. like the uef t3 transport would have categories for 'shield', 'transportation'.

you also need the .defense.shield fields ... of which there are about 15 ... that describe the type of shield
you also need the .transport fields of which there are about 10, that describe how it is a transport

i would say adding the categories would make the buttons appear and adding the fields would make the feature work

so just find a unit that does what you want, look at its blueprint and work out how it does it

I was trying to get this to work ages ago, adding a high/low arc toggle for T2 stationary arti. I did a quick hack, copying in code from the Cybran cruiser/T1 mobile AA and their weapon toggle, but it just didn't like it.

I don't think I ever got the button to appear, but it's been quite a while since I was tinkering. In fact, I might just post up what I had in case anyone else has a similar idea and wants to take a look.
