FAF not installing on New MSI, Windows 8-1

Hi all, after scouring the forums here, I've still not found the solution to my problem.

I'm attempting a new install on my brand-new computer. I installed on a 3 year old MSI computer no problem, but that was Win7. I get the error "the cabinet file disk cab required for this installation is corrupt or cannot be used" etc. I've searched this forum and found some fixes, but they aren't working for me. Chkdsk found no errors (no surprise since I just took this computer out of the box a few hours ago) and ms framework is up to date. I downloaded the game via Steam, and it's version 1-6-6 according to the title screen. I attempted to install the 3599 patch, but it doesn't find the exe file.

Okay, so after downloading the same package 6 or so times, the 7th just worked without problems. Go figure. If anyone else is having this problem my solution was: keep downloading the package and run the new MSI file til it works XD
