Cyb T2 gunships

I am unexperienced with T2 gunships. In attached game I was losing map control and thought I could play defense with T2 gunships. At 12:40 when attacking the expansion at left bottom with my first gunships, they shoot normally. When defending my base from 13:30, especially at 14:40, they hardly shoot, and when they do, they all do it at the same time, so overkill and are still quite useless. Why don't they shoot? Is this a bug? Or is this normal behaviour of the gunships that I don't understand, that can be solved with micro? Is this behaviour specific to Cybran? I thought Cybran gunships were supposed to have good splash damage so would be good against t1 armies?

i can't watch replay atm, but i know that cybran t2 gunships are not micro friendy, for example they can't shoot on the move command and in order to shoot they need to stay in certain range from target.

That's it, thanks. I'm used to microing by using move and having units attack by themselves. Indeed then they move, take some seconds to come to a stand-still, and only after that auto-attack, for which they move away again to have some distance. If you micro them by giving move orders every second like I did, they never shoot.
It seems easier to use attack-ground in stead of move, and accept that they position themselves a bit differently than you'd want.

Gunships tend to be overkill when they shoot, hence why they are good only against high hp single targets. It is the way they are intended to work, think of them as SC2 Protoss Void Rays minus the increasing damage.

Um... what?

They don't overkill at all. They may miss a lot, but that's not overkill.
