How to close games on Seton?

Postby garmeth06 » 26 Aug 2014, 07:11

I play Seton's beach position and I looove to play greedy and hard eco as I had a similar style on starcraft. I use serpahim and after I have all T3 mex around minute 17-18 I win navy with t3 sub hunter spam and just try to build Ahwassa's and snipe ACU's or critical buildings.

Is there a better use of my resources? Should I continue to eco with t3 pgens and t2 mass fabricators?

Thanks

Only eco-ing will not make you win if the opponent is agressive enough. But to keep growing your eco is a good thing. At what pace depends on the situation.

Once you win your sea, kill what you can from there (with Seraphim, build cruisers, they shoot far inland), make sure you have enough navy to hold that sea. Colonize the island if it was not yours.
Then you should have enough available attention and eco to help your teammates.

Ahwassa's only work when your team has air superiority.
Maybe you want to spam t3 air. Or you make navy in the other sea. Or you make nukes, possibly from your battleships. Or you make Ythota's in your sea and walk them onto their land. Or you make T3 arty. Or you help building a game ender (rapid fire arty, Paragon, Yolona oss). Or you spam combat SCU's that teleport. Etc, etc.
So many options, depending on the vulnerabilities of the opposing team, the needs of your team, and your creativity.

You need to be more flexible than that. You can only go full eco if you are sure that your opponent won't attack you. You need to scout frequently to see what he is doing.

Any player 1300+ will scout you and see that you are all eco and no navy, and they will send a few t2 ships to wipe you out, especially if you are beach.

Once you've won the sea you need to bombard land with cruisers and maybe battleships. Get a clump of 10+ cruisers (which also helps if your team is not winning air) and focus fire on single buildings. Sparse TMD are no problem but if they build mass TMD then you will need a few battleships.

Once you've killed everything within cruiser range (which is all of front and most of your opposing navy base) then you can get creative. Ahwassa probably isn't the best option unless your team is dominating air and you are good at microing. For me they just fly around without ever dropping a bomb where I tell them to.

Building t3 air is always a good option. If your team doesn't have air dominance then spam ASF. Otherwise you can make bombers and help your other navy player.

Ahwassa should basically always work if you have air dominance, if you don't: spam more ASF. Also congratulations on discovering some of the most imba units in the game. You will do well here.

Alternatively, the T4 rapid fire nuke launcher is super inexpensive for what it does. You can also turn it into a nice little Cybran ACU graveyard with enough PD/shield.
