I was told I failed. Why?

Postby GrimWolf » 04 Aug 2014, 21:35

Hello All,

I am thinking this would be the most appropriate forum for this. I was in a 4v4 match, not sure of map name, and I saw an opportunity to take out an enemy commander with a squadron of T2 bombers so I took it and then asked for assistance as he killed my bombers with no more than ~1300 health, at which point a team mate sent a T3 Strat and finished him off.

Now in some chat back and forth while waiting for re-connection, a team mate said I had failed at what I did, after me calling him a jerk he just responded with something like: "yes, i am a jerk for being smart". Did not really give me a reason. I do not understand why, yes I did not clear the Comm with my first wave but had a second wave ready to send, had the Strat not been available.

So I guess my question is, is there ever a reason not to take out a commander if you have the opportunity?

When full share is on often times it's better to kill eco instead of an ACU.

However, I think your teammate talks about that you didn't prepare your snipe to kill the ACU. If you had another wave ready you should've sent it with your first wave (or waited for your second wave to build). Even then you didn't fail, because the ACU died (and he is probably not being nice). For more to say about it we need a replay as ^ says.

Ah okay. I will do so once I am at home where I can access the replays. Forwarned, I am still noob at this game and I am sure my replay will emphasize that.

Also the reason I didn't send more bombers right away (if I recall correctly) is they were being built, not ready as the first wave was sent sorry if caused a misunderstanding there. I also didn't think they would be shot down as there appeared to be little to no air defense by the Comm, but I will chalk that up to a noob mistake on my part.

Ok here it is, so in reviewing the chat things seem a bit different, but he still says I failed on last guy, but I am wondering if he thought he was talking to the White player as he sent gunships in towards the end the same time I was sending more bombers. Your thoughts?

Also I did send second wave of bombers, his strat just got there first.

Failed snipes happen to the best of us. Not going to beat it around the bush, it's pretty simple:

1. Prima-donna syndrome is far worse at higher levels, you're better off growing a thicker skin sooner than later.
2. In full share team games it's far better to snipe the more skilled players first, because noobs won't know what to do with all of the extra eco.

This.

You're fine. You killed someone.

Yea, if share was on, it would be better to kill his eco.

But if the player didn't even tell you what you did wrong then he was just trolling you. Ignore it and move on.
(some people will actually give you advice. This I appreciate. But that's not what happened here)

ITs actually simple.

Build Experimentals or spam t3 land.

Unless your air is highly insecure, then build shields and SAMs while sending scouts hither and thither.

But then, build experimentals.

Like, 3 or 4, then walk towards the enemy and march all over his everything. While continuing to spam out experimentals.

In fact, advice for noobs on multiplayer games everywhere.

If you are still around when you have 6 or more t3 Mexes, check around and your priorities are:

1. Anti nuke for you and then everyone else. Might as well sink your eco into something for the team

2. Assuming air snipe isnt too much of a worry, spam Experimentals. Just sink your entire economy into Experimentals. Even Fatboy's can be terrifying when someone has four of them. Concerning Fatboy's, go ahead and have every Fatboy you make start crapping out Percival's. It will slow down Fatboy production, but it will make the Obese Land Whales more formiddable. Keep this up unitl Percy prooduction has eaten your eco completely. Then laugh.

2a. Keep an eye for allied attacks and be ready to support them with your Experimentals. But if you think your Collosi are just going to end up as reclaim snack while only cancelling out the enemy exp, stay put, and eat his instead.

2b. 4 Ythotha's are wonderful. The only viable strategy is to march those sumbitches as deeply as possible, heedless of all resistance. The goal is to get into the enemy base and let the Death Ball screw things up. For GC's and Chicken's, just march forth, strategy and micro is a minimal requirement. Do remember to group them up first though or at least a tight conga line.

2c. Monkeylord's have a 360 firing radius, and thus benefit in CQC with other Exps the most. Two monkeylords micro'd right can make a Chicken turn a bunch, wasting the deathball and completely missing atleast one Monkey.

.........this doesnt help against the Lard Lord's.

2d. Crabs are special.
