Hey people, i have a few questions...

Postby Ploplo » 11 Jul 2014, 01:25

First... hello to everyone here

So, i've always somewhat liked supcom and FA, and recently i've gone back to it a bit more, and after some "research" about the topic, i found out about FAF so i obviously was interested about what it offers.

Right now i've just done some AI matches on the FAF client, and i've yet to do an actual match. Kind of "afraid" to do so as well, mainly cause i don't know much about what i'll do, the fact i'm guaranteed to lose (horribly), and because i hope i'll meet a nice enough opponent... i've grown to be suspicious about gaming communities nowadays ^^ (not that they're all awful... but i've seen a lot who are)

And... is there a place for someone who wants to be good eventually while having fun, and who does not care that much immediately about his skill level?

Also, on the game itself, when you press shift to see the orders, you can move some of the orders like buildings... but can you remove one of the order in the "chain"?

Playing ladder is the best way to learn quickly, and it's fun too. Just remember that it takes ~10 games for the system to learn your skill level, so don't be surprised if you meet better opponents at first. You can also ask a personal trainer in the lobby to help you; check for a yellow whistle icon in front of the name.

You can delete an order by shift+ctrl+right click.

Yes i've seen it takes some matches to calculate skill level... which is mainly why i said i'd lose badly.

Which reminds me i forgot the most important question, cause it might mean i can't play at least for the moment. Is having an unstable connection (having 5-10 seconds deconnections every.. 2 mins sometimes or up to every 3-4 hours, mostly one every 15mins or so) a real issue? Not counting those 5-10 secs lost, even though those can be the difference between a victory or loss at times (but that's true for all games i play), but if that happened, are you disconnected completely from the game, and if yes, can you go back?

(and thanks for the tip, i was sure there was a way but i just couldn't find it ><)

You'll be reconnected unless it's a long disconnect (1-2 min+), but if it's every 2 minutes people are going to find that really annoying. Every 2 hours won't be an issue.
