What to do when encountering super early T2 air

As the title says I'm curious how to deal with this particular strategy especially on big maps. I've recently run across a player who defeated me with this. He plays UEF and tries to make fighter/bombers as soon as possible. I've looked at a few of the guys replays this move seems to work well for him.

hm at first: nice one Photon

About what to do against: you should have got way more map due your landunits and by the time you spotted his T2 you should have spammed Ints like nuts.
I dont think there is so much more to say about that. :mrgreen:

He got me with the same tactic on Twin rivers I spammed so much AA it wasnt funny and lost every mex to a t2 plane in the first 5-15 mins.. By the time my spam knocked on his base door he had t2 eng suite, gun upgrade and tons of PD and the shoulder drone to suck up reclaim and take mass points.

Just remember he has no land forces to speak of so you need to consolidate your base and expand with air and aa protection and find the drone and then roll his turtle over and tickle its belly with something unpleasant.

he was quite ahead in score very early, and i actually can't really tell what you can do here, that was funny replay

mechmarines could kill his expanding engineers, but you ofc already lost all power...
that is quite specific situation, you would like to build some t1 aa fast, and also micro your air, cause thouse t2 bombers are fast and t1 ints are not killing them fast enought =\

just need to see that he have just one factory and nothing much else, if you defend your base he can be in trouble
so yea... if you opponent only making air, you better have some aa and split your power would help too..

one time I was playing on Sera Glacier, my enemy make a lot of Tech 2 Bombers, and I made some T-2 Bomb resistant Pgens s/ my Template, and a bomb resistant Pgen can help you, because you will not stall(Hard) in power after the Bombers drop they payload

I came across this particular player today, indeed he did go t2 air and indeed I did have the same fate as you.

In hindsight, if I had scouted a lot earlier I could have anticipated what was coming and prepared better with some intys, I got some mobile aa out but they weren't much good and then came the power stall and it just went worse from there really!

at 3:45 your scout tell you this: he rush like a madman his only air fact to t2...... this guys had very clear idea what he will do..... your scout tell you also he is very weak about the expension and ground unit. (even before you could feel his air fetish)

at that time (3:45) you should ajust your strategy to make air fact intead of land....there some number to think: interceptor=50 mass janus= 420 mass......

you got more interceptor than him but no intel when he attack......

Make t1 radar...... this help to figth air battle. you can use scout plane like a mobile radar....any reason why you dont make land scout??

there other number snoop= 12 mass and 45 radar radius , air scout =40 mass and 65 radar radius and t1 radar=380 mass (with 4 pgen) 115 radar radius (and a lot of power)

This guy go like a blind men with no compromise about a plan and this plan use your soft spot....

  • scout his base!!!
  • take map control
  • build t1 AA turrets to defend your base
  • build interceptors to take out his planes outside of your base

I remember i played with Photon once. It was right after i read this topic. I just gone second air and bombed his power generators with bomber. And when he finaly got managed to get t2 air fac, i had enought interceptors to counter t2 air.
