What is armor?

Postby ax0lotl » 20 Jan 2014, 14:08

The Unit DB states different types of armor, for example "experimental" for Megalith, "normal" for Brick, "light" for Soul Ripper. Terms like "heavily armored unit" are used regularly.
I cannot find an explanation of this parameter in the forum or the wiki.
What is armor? Is it different than just high HP? It would seem so, if a Soul Ripper with 90k HP is said to have light armor. Are there any weapons better or worse to counter armor then?

there is an armor definition file in the lua directory.

Code: Select all
armordefinition = {

        # Armor Definition
        'Normal 1.0',
    },
    {   # Armor Type Name
        'Commander',

        # Armor Definition
        'Normal 1.0',
        'Overcharge 0.033333',
        'Deathnuke 1.0',
    },
    {   # Armor Type Name
        'Structure',

        # Armor Definition
        'Normal 1.0',
        'Overcharge 0.066666',
        'Deathnuke 0.032',
    },

i only know that units with armor type building take 800 damage from Overcharge, ACU's take 500 damage from Overcharge
Buildings take ~90 damage from ACU explosion, while units and ACU's take 2500, regular units including Support Commanders take 12000 from overcharge
also there is a few shield type armod i guess, becasue shield disruptor does 650 dps to all shields however OC gives 12000 to mobile shieds 500 to acu shield and 800 to static shield

so it is only used for make units to take different damage from ACU explosion and Overcharge and apparently fire beetles (to not take friendly damage)

shields dont have an exxtrat amror type they get their type from teh building who produces the shield.

Shield disrupter has an extra weapon wich has a damage to shield attribute.

OC does 400 damage to an acu
and OC does 800 to any building
