Efficiency of Energy Storage/Adjacency

Postby sasin » 10 Sep 2013, 22:54

Hello,

I remember reading somewhere that in vanilla FA it was economically more efficient to utilize energy storage with a t3 power generator than to build another one. I was wondering what the adjacency calculations are in the current game, and generally if people think it's ever efficient to use energy storage with t2 or t3 power. Also, I believe that for a real eco race the general strategy is 2-4 t2 powergens -> RAS->double RAS. Is that true?

all mex ->
all t2 mex ->
depending on number of mex 2-3 t2 pgens ->
ras and Aras (if available) ->
storage on all mex (this depends again on number of mex.... if we are talking below 10 I would cap first then ras) ->
all t3 mex ->
t3 pgens as needed.

As to the efficiency of en storage, technically I think mass wise you do get more power, but between the loss of unit cap and the chance of chain reaction explosions from such a volatile little building, I would rather spam up more pgens.

Also, don't forget to reclaim t2 pgens for that little boost of mass to get either Aras or your first t3 mex ;)

Thanks Brnk! Do you (or anyone else) know the value for the adjacency? How much does surrounding a powergen with energy storage increase it's energy output? I think it's a constant percentage for all pgens, right?

The appropriate storage on any eco producing building is +50% for full surround.

t1 mex with 4 storage from 2->3
t2 mex with 4 storage from 6->9

t1 pgen with 4 storage from 20->30
t2 pgen with 12 storage from 500->750
t3 pgen with 16 storage from 2500 -> 3750

etc.etc.0
