Re: Replay Analysis Thread

I think I have finally gotten a little bit better with my aggressive, unorthodox, and risky playing style. What do you think of this replay? I'm wondering if there's anything I can be improving on.

(And do you think this is a cast-able game?)

Not quite cast able. But for an Under 1000 game you did show some skills. I have some pointers, as follows.

1. The other team sent 4 ACUs to the middle. But you didn't go. This could have gone badly for your team can cost you a player. Fortunately, it didn't.

2. You have your ACU sitting in a transport, upgraded and ready to go. But you stall because of insufficient air escort. The transport is sitting there with the ACU loaded. Why??? If you enemy scouted this, his interceptors would have wiped you out!!! Don't sit your ACU there in the transport. Unload him, and then hide the transport (so, if scouted, your opponent wont know what you're up to).

3. You transport in and do a PD creep. Excellent! then you back up your assault with Restorer air support. Brilliant! But did you notice that grey was also Aeon? This means that you get a 50% completion bonus when you re-build identical structures over the top of wrecks. Even enemy wrecks. You should have build factories over his factory wrecks and got that expansion going faster.

4. He builds a PD line to the south to try countering you and you kill it. You should build identical PD over the wrecks. If he has shields? same deal. AA? You get the picture. ;)

5. With the successful ACU drop, you should of had reinforcements ready to drop in. You had the sky, no reason why you can't setup a ferry system. Mobile shields, flak and Obsidians would have helped. If you had a Gate and built some SCU's they'd be perfect for following through with the holding action.

Just recently starting playing FA and I was wondering if someone can comment on my last replay, perhaps explain what they would've done different and what I'm doing wrong

Much appreciated!

In short. Everything.

You had all those mass points on your side of the map. You should have build ALL of them. Then you should upgrade your mass points. You should build factories and power continuously. Higher tech power is preferable to lower tech. For defensive structures, build more overlapping shield generators. 3 Tech 3 shield generators with interlocking coverage would have had continuous damage absorption potential. Build a mix of different defensive structures. More T3 PD. T2 artillery stations. and T2 PD stations for close in protection. Build WAY more factories and build WAY more units.

For heaven sake when you got units, CONTROL them. don't just patrol. Futhermore, don't build large projects in the line of fire. Build them back in your base.

Learn your counters. Gunships kill land. Flak tanks kill Gunships. Strategic bombers kill flak. T3 fighters kill Strategic Bombers. etc. Titans kill artillery. Percivals kill Titans. Massed T1 artillery kill Percivals. Mech marines kill T1 artillery. T1 tanks kill mech marines. T2 tanks kill T1 tanks. Titans kill T2 tanks. Capuche?

Hi there, not sure if this thread is still active but i would be grateful for any help anyway.

I recently played the game in the replay and died with around 4000 hp on my com and i couldn't work out how, i thought originally it was an overcharge but having watched the replay a couple of times i cant spot any e-storage for the sera. can anyone tell me how i died and how i can avoid this next time?

thanks in advance,
lynx.

(i know the game-play was not the best too. i built my pd in the wrong place (and too early?). Also i didn't assist with my com on hydro and maybe got my later land facs too slowly. The LABs i wasted at the start missing the expanding engies. if anyone notices anything else i would love to hear about it)

@sagax: You made way too much power at the start. Instead you should make land factories much earlier. Also don't forget to take the hydro. Your opponent had so many land factories before you started to build land factories so he had way more tanks and could grab map control. T2 air is a good idea for later in the game, but first focus on getting land.
