Replay analysis

Postby IronTony » 26 Feb 2013, 19:19

Its a replay of Dry Canyon v3 (me(1400) vs Silvergun(1600)).

I had the feeling that i was in upperhand up to minute 9 cause of map control and mexes, but how did he managed to get more Units than me in minute 9?

I have watched the replay 2 times and the mistakes I have spottet are:
- not building the Hydro and getting Energy stall
- then building to much Energy
- he build 9 facs I 12 and I cant finance to produce out of them--> waste of mass
- my Engis were idle
- raiding was not succesfull

Any other mistakes?

The snipe attempt as he was upgrading was a close one, or not?
was it completly visible that it would fail?

Thanks for reading!

-if you make early labs, you should go more aggresive with them and try to find engies, not wait at outer mex points.
-Minute 3:30 -you shouldnt build the PD there that early. Its a very easy target for arty and you can't afford it right now. (the energystall you noticed) You should also stop making new factories until your power is fine. (a little stall is fine)
-6:00 don't make a factory with an single engy who is not protected at left side. This engy is very likley to die before he finishes the fac.
-get radar in middle
-When you notice you got too much energy, you should try to use it with air or gunupgrade. Air would be usefull anyway at this time, at least for scouting.
-7:30 you did air now, but you got still enough energy for gunupgrade. At some point you should notice you got too much power and stop building it. ;)
-like you mentioned, you are out of mass but still make more factories.
-you should reclaim all the big stones laying arround
+radar up now
-energy storage should be made aswell
-8:40 you sacrifice your units in a lot larger group of his units
-10:30 this wreck field could give you the chance to get back into the game, you should reclaim it asap (your patrol order is bad, it doesn't hit the wreck field)
-when you almost killed him, you could propably switch everything to air and try to finish him off with bombers as last hope
-you didn't scout entire game
-with all the energy you got, you could easy afford a t2 radar
-14:30 you should send a few units to raid left side
+you did now
-15:00 you should split a few units and try to raid right side
-still no scouting
-with the mass of the wreck field you should go either for an all in snipe, or tech some mex, or you will get out-eco'ed (even more then you are already)
-gunupgrade would've really helped against all the mongoose
-you lose a lot units because you move them into the enemy, or PDs, but its pretty much over anyway now.

but the main mistake were your energy crash, following too much energy and resulting mass leck. With this, you fell behind in both, eco and units. You could've made a comeback propably if you used your fed commander with an upgrade more offensivly to gain mapcontrol back.

To help with resource awareness, I highly recommend installing the GAZ UI mod. One of its features is that it causes the mass meter to flash if you aren't using enough mass, and causes the energy meter to flash if you're consuming too much.

Hi,
I don't want to open a new thread, because the title fits so well.
Can I please have some advice, criticism, (flames :D ) for my replays.

I was the winner in every game of my replays, but after some time playing maybe it's helpful to hear some fresh ideas or opinions.

Thank you in advance!
