Differences between factions?

Postby Volt » 04 Sep 2012, 15:25

Hello everyone,

Having recently started playing Forged Alliance (and having a blast at it), I would like to know more about the particulars of all the factions; e.g. so far, I heard things like "Cybran T2 fighter/bombers are very good" or "Seraphim have good T1 and Air" and stuff like... But to me, seeing as almost every unit in-game has a direct equivalent in all factions, those differences are all too subtle to me yet! Are there any points I should be aware about the strengths of the factions?

Also, if someone would pinpoint what faction suits more a specific type of game play (turtling, rushing, teching...), I would be interested on that as well. I tend to turtle a little :D .

Thanks in advance!

For turtling, UEF is the faction you want.

- T3 point defense (ravager)
- Solid static shields
- Insane mobile shield with the SCU parashield (52.000 HP, regenerating) -
you can cover a fatboy with it and you have a perfect siege weapon. (you can build TMD and static shields with the SCU).
- Defense satellite for free intel anywhere and being annoying.
- Kennel for insane build rate.
- Two layers of personal shields + nano repair to protect the ACU.
- Shielded T3 transport for dropping units late game.

Contrarywise then, what is a good faction for aggressive raiding and quick kills?

I think you are looking for this: http://supcom.wikia.com/wiki/Complete_unit_list
It is a complete unit list from the Supreme Commander including the ones added by Forged Alliance.

Thank you all for your replies. All were helpful. I'll take close look at the unit list, and I'll keep watching replays.

Thanks

the unit list is from Supreme Commander.
NOT from Supreme Commander Forged Alliance 1.5.3619 (the FAF version).

Take a look here instead: http://www.faforever.com/faf/unitsDB/
