Aeon Strat base defenders

Postby PopSniper » 02 Jun 2016, 19:16

In a recent game, I was in my base when a Cybran commander teleported in and started to kill my commander with his laser. I had a few T2 pds nearby but I noticed that a few strat bombers I was storing nearby took off on their own and started bombing the Cybran commander. Just after I died the bombers successfully killed him before they blew up!! Is this normal?? Do Aeon strat bombers defend the home base automatically? Do other factions strat bombers also do the same?

every air unit have some (relatively big) radius where operate automatic. Its not only for aeon but for every faction. Or at least should be.

Any idle unit will engage enemy units within a certain vision radius. The same mechanic which allows your tanks and base defences to instantly unload on a target allows bombers to acquire their own targets. This is normal game mechanics at work.

You mean it's not locked, or it's not useless?

Maybe the point is that we don't need a super mod validating the relevance (or lack thereoff) and locking up threads because... reasons ?

Who cares if the OP is silly, let it die its natural death. I find it far more cringe worthy to see that locking thread thing seemingly becoming a habbit. Until a thread becomes abusive or unlawful, I see no reason to have it locked.

If there's nothing else to say, people will just stop posting in it.

Threads get locked (or should be) when they go totally off-topic, like people doing here again. Which sucks for the OP.

As for the OP:
Yes, it is normal behaviour, no faction difference either. But only strats have the destructiveness and splash damage, where you become afraid of your own units. Sometimes they do more damage to yourself than your enemy. In the example with the tele-com, if you could just survive before he died and a strat would defend in that moment, then the strat would kill your own commander too. Keep them away when needed.
