Hi guys I was wondering can you play the original supreme commander through this? Also if not how different is Forged Alliance to the original supreme commander in game play? I played original supreme commander for many years on GPG net and got to know many of the people, but when it closed down I stopped playing. When I found you guys here I was re-interested in supreme commander thanks.

You can play the original campaign if it's already installed with faf friends, and turn on the "no Fa units" if you want to play regular supcom. Differences include:
Seraphim faction
t3 assault bots
Mongoose and hoplite
Uef t3 pd
Aeon t2 hover tank
Cybran fire beetle
T2sub hunters
The list is really too long to explain here, you can look up the original wiki and I think it will tell you.

So only the campaign, no match making or pvp?

You can if you host with no Fa units, just make sure no one goes seraphim or they will spawn and not be able to do anything

Ehhh... I am pretty sure you can't play anything like that here.

You can only play FAF version, or FAF version with mods.

There is a mod that allows you to play with vanilla balance and tryes to simulate it, but i think it was broken in many ways.

Situation with vanilla campaing is better but UI and graphics will still be like FA

Also difference in games not just in new units and buildings, FA is alot different in many aspects and slightly different in all other aspects...

I have not tryed no FA units restriction and i don't beleave it will make commander upgraides just like in vanilla and make t1 mass fabs with 0 mass cost and make all shots fire slower and mobile missile launchers track targets.

Also in last vanilla patches they added t2 bots and mercies to balance, not sure if you ever played with this, but i didn't

Maybe all those things are important only for me, they give me strong noatalgia effect.
