Background: I got SUPCOM + FA in 2009 but the scene was rapidly dwindling at that point and I never got properly into it. I quit and picked up an RTS again when SC2 came out. Played A LOT of that and got pretty good. Before that I played some Total Annihilation Spring and got out of the beginner games at least. I was never that good though.
Questions:
1) Is the scene really hardcore now? Is there any room for noobs? Beginners only games or something like that?
2) How does starcraft skill translate in your opinion? Does it help at all? I guess what I'm asking is how long did it take you to get decent enough to enjoy this game?
3) Is the community toxic? Please be honest. That's the no.1 reason I don't play e.g. MOBAS (also they kinda suck anyway).
If anyone has the time to answer these I'm grateful. I don't want to invest time into reading all the FAQs and guides and then find out I'm going to get yelled at and have to play a 100 games before I get my first win (this is actual real life in SC Broodwar).
BTW I found out about this site on youtube (GYLE). So a shout out to that guy! I thought this game was long dead.
