I'm going to be honest and say I still hope things works out. I love my 360. Going to try and keep track about how things develop here.

"This would explain the initial connection requirement and would give Microsoft a chance of regaining their competitive edge by beating Sony to the market again."

yeah, I had to laugh when I originally saw the news.
they also changed the decision about game swapping, or charges for reactivating online features on pre-owned games.

with so many U-turns already, people have started calling it the Xbox-180

I find that insulting when a game is stating me the obvious ("press X to open the door" the 20th time I see a door).
hallelujah, amen.

I'm going to attempt to start a semi intelligent conversation here now.

If you are a IT Pro or one of the decision makers at your company this might make more sense to you. I think they tried to fully embrace this fully integrated eco system thing. They modeled their product around the cloud and all the buzz and hype going on around in the industries. Maybe the insane DRM was more a result of that?

If Microsoft can't make it - how are we supposed to?

I was reading through the old Gartner report http://www.gartner.com/newsroom/id/2209615 "Gartner Identifies the Top 10 Strategic Technology Trends for 2013". Started following the breadcrumbs, refreshing my memory as to what is happening in the IT world.

Now I'm wondering if Microsoft failed at what they wanted to do or if it's more an indication of what is going to happen elsewhere. To me it's sounding more and more like they tried to adopt what all the guys with their crystal balls said and it failed.

This is just making me more wary of what cloud strategies I'm adopting in the business environment than I already was.

Microsoft face the same problems we do. They get the same stuff. Things change all the time. Remember when the question was weather to adopt BYOD or not, now that is not the question any more. The question now is how do you manage it. It's a shift in perception that happened in months if not weeks.

"Disruption of Consumerization"

That just makes me want to puke. What happened to IT?

What happened to just making a F#$%@ing games console for us to game on!? Screw all this other stuff. But they can't, if they leave it out then the consumer will pick the thing with the bells and whistles.
