Survived hurricane Sandy, as she furiously ripped through NY! Power went out last night, while I was in a game, no less lol. Huge trees toppled over onto the power lines, everywhere. Power expected to be out for 10 days or so, and after my little excursion around town, I think its safe to say that's a pretty good assertion. Downed power lines and poles on every block! The water made it up to my front door, and the streets looked like rivers! It was crazy. I've never seen a storm like this, ever. It's calmed down now though, just some wind still but that's about it. The crews are already out cleaning the trees and debris off all the roadways. All major roadways (parkways, freeways, etc) are still shut down due to massive flooding and downed trees blocking the way through. NYC subways completely flooded through lower Manhattan, and almost every building on the lower east side has at least 3 feet of salt water on the first floor in the main lobbies (all basements completely flooded). It really does look like something out of a movie... Similar to "The Day After Tomorrow."

Not sure who else this may have affected, but I hope everyone else is safe. I'm posting this from my Blackberry lol.

is it as bad in New York as the [german] television is keep's telling us? that the underground is so hardly damaged that it will not be in use for an unknown time?

LOL nah, but the power did manage to go out just as I was sending a massive attack ... Didn't get to see how that ended

Not sure what the news media is saying about the storm, since there's no power here to check but to answer your question, yes the damage is massive and nobody knows how long it'll be before things are up and running back to normal. This is going to directly affect the election as well.

Power has finally been restored back to my area! It was out for 2 whole weeks... Ridiculous. I've been going through FA withdrawals . Still plenty of other areas around me, without power. I haven't even been able to stay at my house because its been freezing outside (we just got hit with the nor'easter/blizzard following the Hurricane, as well) and since no power we've had no heat and therefore couldn't stay there anymore . I will be returning back home tomorrow, and I'll be sharing a multitude of local pix that I took during, and after the Hurricane.
