It woild be extremely easy to find out that vote counts doesn't add up in each state. Corrupting the electoral college would be pointless as it would be immediatly apparent.
What you'd need is to rig the vote count in each state, or at least the swing ones which is a very severe conspiracy theory that would require some evidence ...
