What began as a conflict over the transfer of unconsciousness from flesh to presidency escalated into a war which has decimated a million blogrolls. The GOP and the Dems have all but exhausted the resources of an Internets in their struggle for domination. Both sides now crippled beyond repair, the remnants of their fanboiz continue to battle on ravaged forums, their hatred fueled by over four years of total war. This is a fight to the death. For each side, the only acceptable outcome is the complete elimination of the other.

The president cannot order nuclear strikes willy nilly, there is the congress and a whole slew of other stuff to prevent such a occurrence that I don't exactly know much about other than they exists, mostly because American Command Structures during war is not my area of expertise.

In other words: no, the POTUS cannot order a nuclear strike by pressing a button from the cockpit of his ACU

I guess that the price to pay for trying to win voters by calling them deplorables.

That and trying to win against an "anti-establishement" candidates by getting all of Hollywood millionaires doing videos to tell Rednecks how to think properly.

Or for trying to win the vote on gender basis -"vote for her"-, by labelling everyone who might disagree with "her" as a mygonistic pig.

Or for preaching "love trumps hate" by having twitter and facebook armadas fericiously shaming anyone who might be tempted by the anti-establishment guy.

Or for considering that the only one needing protection are the "minorities", un-college-educated rust belt white workers being just a bunch of racist bible thumpers.

At that point it didn't matter that Trump was a lying clown, I guess that he appeared as less bad than a Clinton dynastic candidate, who couldn't escape being the face of the status quo.

It is a sad outcome, but the Democrats worked very hard at failing.

Also, the electoral college is a process and system where "electors" are used to vote for the president rather direct, popular vote count. In the United States' early days the 'Founding Fathers' realized the harshness of travel and created a system where people could cast their votes, then have special "electors" sent to the Capitol to voice the opinion of the people as to who should be president.

For this day and age it is absolutely absurd we don't use popular vote given the speed of communication. Many, many people feel the electoral college is corrupt and no longer represents the popular vote.
