120Hz+ Monitors

Postby Morax » 03 Nov 2015, 22:43

TA4Life - I know - says that the game benefits quite a bit from this spec. When I first got a 120Hz+ TV it seemed kind of weird at first, but it wasn't until I played some games on it that it stood out: the motion was fluid, UI didn't strain my eyes, and it just seemed like what I expected to happen happened.

Anyone else have a 120Hz+ monitor and can recommend one to me? I'm taking a look at a lot of the Acer Predator series as the Asus "Republic of Gamers" ones are awfully overpriced.

Def want to get in on this....

Thanks in advance

I got myself a Qnix 27" Korean monitor about a year ago or so. Wow. The refresh rate (It comes at 60 Hz but is overclockable, mine pushes to 110 Hz) is nice but not a gamechanger for FAF, but the 1440p is another world entirely from 1080p when it comes to FAF. The fact it is a PLS panel and not a rubbish TN panel is very nice too.

At the time I bought it, it was absolutely unbeatable for its price. Now there might be some fancy monitor with Freesync (Or Gsync I suppose...) that is nicer, although most likely more expensive still.

i would say the most important spec for a tft is reaction time, some(or all?) TFT get slower with higher refreshrate, for example the new 144hz+ tft from asus gets slower if u use the overclock to 160hz. A 120 HZ TV would have a awfull long Pipe but at the same time renders the picture at 120hz refresh which is counterproductive for a TV and excatcly the opposite of what u want for Gaming(Motion is fluid but hugely delayed). Go for a TFT with Gsync or Freesync with the best rection time.

also for Gaming a Screen can actually get too Big (if u dont Have a Barn for a Livingroom). That is because ur eyes can only travel that much distance in a certain time which is also weary.
