RTS with Orbital Mechanics

Postby Hexacosichoron » 29 Aug 2015, 03:36

Ever since I started playing Kerbal Space Program, I've been wanting to see an RTS game made with orbital mechanics. At first, Planetary Annihilation seemed to be going in that direction, but they seem to have given up on that.

I was wondering if I was the only one who would be interested to see something like a Kerbal Space Program mod that let you control ships from a 3rd person perspective, and have Supreme Commander based parts and economy system that let you experiment with different combinations of parts to see what kind of tactics would be most effective, and have an ACU ship that could reclaim asteroids for mass and build things in orbit.

I think there used to be an RTS where you could switch to first person in any unit and strategic view :D I just love the idea of being able to do that in supcom or even something like Company of heroes.. And meanwhile PA still doesnt have multiple factions :P

Not really sure what this has to do with orbital RTS gameplay

But the subject of the OP was about orbital gameplay, which PA has

He was talking about third person view so I thought OP ment like a closup view where you have full control over the unit

And about PA I was just mocking about it's failure. Now they 'fixed' it with a 40 eur dlc lol

And Reaper, no they'll never add multiple factions because of 'balance reasons'

Carrier Command

Another cool one, even though it doesn't have strategic view but it's a rts fps combination where you controle one command unit and build bases in certain places and summon units, is uprising. If the grafics weren't so dated, I would still play it ... :?
