Stuck on 'Establishing Connection and checking for updates"

I got into FAF earlier on but couldnt connect to any games, so I restarted PC, now when I launch FAF it says the above (title) and eventually changes to "Clientstate: -2".

Any way to fix please? I tried rolling back to an older version but got the same message, any help much appreciated.

Probably some server issues. I'm having it too.

Considering that, I noticed the popup doesn't jump to the front of my screen. It was hidden behind firefox. Is that a decision by the FAF team or is it supposed to jump to the front of the screen. Additionally, as the "establishing connection...." screen closed, so did the FAF icon in my taskbar and no new one appeared to tell me the connection failed. Is it useful to take a look in that? Now we'd just think FAF closed for no reason and try to start it again.

Server connection seems to intermittently fail, but these are not server crashes - probably someone tripped over a cable or something

They are still a few cases where the server is stuck somewhere. Not in a loop, but somewhere. I'm trying to get where exactly
