Can't connect to any games

Postby pukster » 29 Mar 2012, 01:10

I have FAF installed, and managed to join the lobby of two games (both kicked me out for being a noob or for bad ping) but prior and after those two times I have been unable to join. I am also trying to recreate the events which let me connect those two times but have been so far unsuccessful. Here is what I have tried:
  • Disabling/Enabling Windows Firewall
  • Enabling/Disabling port triggering on UDP port 6112
  • Selecting/Deselecting "use UPnP (experimental)"
  • Enabling/Disabling UPnP (in router)

I have also made sure to restart my router in between. However, I still get that "connecting" screen, but I can never enter the lobby (except for those rare two occasions)

Anyone know what I am doing wrong? Cheers.

Try the following (all of them at the same time):
  • enable windows firewall with recommended settings
  • check if forgedalliance.exe is maybe blocked (possible)
  • enable experimental UPnP in FAF, choose a different port than usual (e.g. 6543)
  • enable UPnP in Router
  • reboot your PC and router

I figured out what the problem was. I was using port triggering when I should have used port forwarding.

Yes, the triggering is often not what you need, even though it sounds like the right thing (my router describes it outright wrong).
