Steam linking infinite loop

Hello all,

I have a problem with linking my steam account. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
I've just bought FA and made an account on FAF for the first time. When I try to link my steam account, it's seemingly stuck in some sort of infinite loop.

I've tried searching this forum for a solution, but to no avail. The closest I could find were these posts:

Both posts seem to be related to having multiple accounts but mine is brand new.

Here's are the steps I performed:
- Bought FA on steam
- Downloaded FAF client
- Made FAF client on faforever
- Verified my account via the email I received
- Logged into faforerver -> successfully
- Started linking my steam account following the provided guide with images
- [edit: Set my steam profile to public as well as the games details]
Does not work, once I press the "sign in" button, I just get an infinitely looping little "busy" icon.

- Restarted steam
- Attempt steam linking
Does not work, once I press the "sign in" button, I just get an infinitely looping little "busy" icon.

- Logged out of faforever
- Logged in on faforever -> successfully
- Attempt steam linking

- Rebooted PC
- Logged in on faforever -> successfully
- Attempt steam linking

Side note:
Logging into steam via my browser with the same credentials works without any problems.
I have never had a faforever account before

Perhaps there is someone that can help me figure out my mistake? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Edit: I forgot to add that I made my steam profile public

Huh, I managed to fix it by using Microsoft Edge instead of Google Chrome.
