Not sure if this is a bug report as such but here we go:

My friend and I like to play PVE vs AI and in the last few days we noticed that the Sorian AI is playing much worse than normal. It is doing things, building the base and so on, but it's not attacking.

I can't put my finger on a specific thing that changed, just two examples that we noticed: It used to be that we could be quite sure the AI was attacking with experimentals around the time when they reach 100k score. In our recent games, the AI didn't build any experimentals at all (unit restrictions are off, of course).

The other example we saw is on the map Olymp v2 (although a different version than is currently in the Vault), which has crystals near the start that you can reclaim for a lot of mass. Before, the AI would use that to absolutely steamroll, I have a screenshot of us getting shot by 5 simultaneous nukes. That wasn't even AIx. We played it again the other day and the AI didn't even touch the crystals and just sort of durdled around.

It it possible that some recent update broke the Sorian AI?

Hello Scaatis,

the last game patch that influence the Sorian AI was on 12 Dec 2019:
https://github.com/FAForever/fa/pull/2918

The patch was addressing GPG base templates for expansions.
Only change for the Sorian AI was an additional buildconditon for Naval bases to respect the game options for naval base count.

If you like, you can install my AI mod. The latest game patches related to AI are included in my mod.
And it has also some additional debug options to check the Sorian AI (or any other AI like AI-SWARM or RNGAI)

Enable the mod in the modmanager and set the AI-debugoption:
Code: Select all
DEBUG: AI BuilderManager -> AI Sorian Names

This will print every Sorian builder into the game.log

After a game, post the game.log here.

(of course you can also play against my AI in case Sorian is too weak for you)

If you are a turtle player, use the adaptive or the stronger Overwhelm AI.
Also in case you like unit mods, My AI plays well with all of these mods:

Thanks, Uveso, I tried that AI yesterday. It had some ... interesting ideas about how many Strategic Missile defenses you need and when (it built three before building T3 mexes or reactors), but otherwise it was good fun. I will try the debug log to see if the Sorian AI outputs any errors.

Actually the AI seemed to be doing fine in that game... not sure what's going on.

This is strange, my AI should only build SMDs in case you have strategic missile launchers.

The first SMD is build if the enemy has at least 1 nuke launcher:

Then it will build 1.2 times the amount of defenses than enemy launchers. (5 defenses for 4 enemy launcher)

And there is a special response builder in case the enemy has a Yolona Oss (Seraphim Experimental launcher)

Disable the mod, and check if sorian has issues without my mod.
(If yes, then it will be automatically be fixed on the next game update)

This patch worked very well. Sometimes in my FAF "for modding" (other files in another HD, NOT the original linked ) I put an Easy AI , that is almost inert, to test in peace some modifications, and explode some enemies when necessary... But.... another day, while Im building and testing detais, 3 UEF battleships appeared and fire on my commander :lol: . So This works.
