Annoying message when trying to log in to forum

Every time I go to log into faforever.com, I get this really annoying message saying "You have used up all your login attempts, please solve this capta". I've entered my password correctly and I've tried it from a non VPN browser and it still does it. So, so annoying and makes me not want to bother posting because I've got to basically login twice each time.

phpBB is completely messed up. I have the same issue, but there seems no way to fix it without giving up the least bit of barely working spambot protection that we have. We are working on replacing the forums with something new.

It's work in progress at it was first discussed around 2 years ago.

...Interesting. Well, for some reason, I've just logged in and the login went through first time, without a hitch. If it starts happening again, I will use a specific browser that I don't have set to clear cookies on exit so that I don't have to log back in each time.
I thought someone might have fixed the issue after logging in, but no one has mentioned a fix on this thread so it must have been just random that it went through without a hitch this one time.
