After 4 hours of Troubleshooting, fix atempts, aswell as researching in google and this forum I could not find anyone with the "exact" same Issue - possible similarities or their fixes resulted in no fix for me.

System Specs:
Win 10 64-bit
CPU Intel I7 4700K
GPU Nvidia GTX 970 (Asus strixx)
32GB Ram
Soundblaster ZXR Soundcard

ISSUE:
100+ Hours of Playing Vanilla SupCom:FA throu Steam - Not a single Issue.
Yesterday my Brother and I downloaded the FAF Client and atempted to play. No Issues on his System at all.

On my System the Game loads in and at 2 seconds in - right after the Zoom-in on ACU - the game freezes. At this point there is no ACU and no HUD yet. The game Freezes without a Crash-error, Alt+Tab enables to close the Game throu the taskbar. (For my Brother the game just keeps going normaly - except for the DC Msg-Window)

This happens on every single game launch.

Interesting find in the log was the first big issue in Game.log (Line 949) "warning: Error running CreateGameInterface script in CScriptObject at 1e249cd4:..." aswell as (Line 969) "Error running OnFrame script in CScriptObject at 117ff7c0:..."
and following multiple "warning: Evaluating LazyVar failed: error evaluating lazy variable:..."

Even after installing FAF and encountering the Error the Basegame (launched throu Steam) still works.
Reinstalling SupCom:FA aswell as FAF (with deleting remaining folders) did not fix the Problem.

Help would be much appreciated since we cannot seem to find a fix on our own.

I have the exact same issue down to the letter, custom game and co-op. I've verified both games on Steam and reinstalled Downlord's client. The only thing that seems to work properly is replays. Did an update break something maybe? I played last week and it was fine, then downloaded an update yesterday and this started happening.

Ive had same problem when the game starts after cutscene it crashes but runs in the background, when i go to the desktop and back it stays black. ive tried running the game outside of FAF and now it crashes at first start and tried coop single player it runs with no issues then crashes randomly. ive also tried reinstalling supreme commander on steam and the FAF client with no luck. ive moved from windows 7 to windows 10 enterprise so i thought that was the problem at first but now others have shown the same issue. my friends works on coop FAF with no issues as of yet

Same here, the game visuals freeze as soon as the commander / the interface is meant to appear. The game appears to be running normally, I can hear (other players) acu's moving around for example.

I also have the error related to CreateGameInterface in my game.log

Game was working last week, but after this patch it started having this issue.
Works fine when not using faf.

After looking though the changes at github /FAForever/fa/pull/2994/files
It looks like the new changes require the user to have a custom chat size or it breaks

If your game.prefs doesn't contain a chat_window setting it freezes.

To work around:
Start the game normally via steam, start a skirmish, drag the chat window a little then quit the game.
Your game.prefs should have a chat_window setting and it seemed to work when I started a co-op game after that.

Thanks Kaadu! I tried your suggested workaraound and it did the job exactly as proposed! For me this fixed the issue and a testmatch via the faf client with a single AI enemy worked without breaking. If my problem reappears, i come back and cry. Until then: thanks for the fast solution!
