Lobby CPU rating

Postby ITER » 14 Mar 2020, 17:07

In recent months my CPU rating in lobby has been 295 making it difficult to get MP games. It was always much lower than that so I'm trying to understand whats happened. I reinstalled windows 10 a while back but dont expect that to be the cause. Has something changed with the client to cause this?

I have an i5-2500k running at 4ghz, Asus P8Z68-V, 16GB DDR3 Ram, 1070ti, 500GB SSD.
User benchmark considers my CPU to be decent enough. I realise that its rather old by now.

I reinstalled windows on its own C partition. 15 GB free. FAF is installed on D. Whould this cause any issues at all??
Any advice would be appreciated.

Maybe its not just the CPU but also RAM, see viewtopic.php?f=45&t=15908&p=160934#p160934

i5-2500K at 4.5 GHz should give you something like 180ish (guess)

Scores have become a bit slower now with all the exploits-fixing updates. Stock i5 with stock Turboboost and stock dualchannel DDR3-1333 c9 used (in the past) to give ~222. With fixed all-core OC at 4 GHz and DDR3-1600 c9 you still get <200 now.

Did you do a typo and did you mean 195 and not 295?

You are running your RAM in dual channel right? If you are running with 2 identical sticks of RAM, that should be in the 2nd and 4th from the socket on your motherboard.

The i5-2500K at 4+ GHz is rarely the slowest in FAF. I host a lot and tend to host with CPU limit of 210. I used 200 in the past, but it seems all scores have gotten slightly worse some time ago.

The real curse is the laptopplayers with their Thermal Throttle...

You might also want to check your cooling. If untouched since 2011, the thermal paste might have degraded into dry powder...

Now that I read your nick; I might have kicked you if I remember right  . Feel free to ask me for advice on FAF anytime. I just hate lag and am happy to help you solve it.

If you run too much junk besides the game, the 2500K will get too much load btw. That is why I sometimes run the "!streams" command in Aeolus and kick if I find a streamer in my lobby before the game starts

Cuz streaming using NVENC slows down the CPU :4Head: :4Head:
