Performance issues and connection drops after installing FAF

My stock install of SC:FA with v3599 performs very well, even on large maps with several AI. This changed when I installed FAF and it updated the FA exe.

With the following:

AMD Phenom II X4 @3.2Ghz
4GB DDR3 RAM
Nvidia Geforce GTX 460 1GB
Windows XP 32-bit

I struggle to connect to other people's games on FAF, and when the match begins the system grinds to a halt with single digit fps, low simspeed and stuttering audio. This happens regardless of player\AI count or visual settings. Either FAF is seriously bugged, or there's something obvious I've missed here.

In the meantime I guess I'll revert back to v3599 against Sorian AI or something...

I tried rebooting the client a few times and it seems to have fixed the issue. Not sure what was going on...

Edit: Fixed now, I'll post game.log contents if the connection glitch happens again.
