Mediaways dropping packets.

Postby Trueffelschwein2 » 25 Jul 2012, 13:51

Hi,

i can't connect to any games lately and only seldomly open one (with noone joining). The forums also load slow with 50% success rate of loading a page.

The problem with opening games is as follows: stuttering contact to upload server, sometimes the game opens and shows a black screen, even rarer is that i see "establishing connection" but that's it.

I was toled this had to do with my Provider (mediaways in the tracert to faforever.com), i called them and they said to re-check when my bandwidth-ticket is resolved. i will report back...

try to switch to UPnP at Settings->gamePort (restart) and clear your temp-folder this worked for me

however ZEP told me that this is most likely not related to the problem but just try

It is NOT related.

You have to contact mediaways, again and again.

Tech was here, connection has the same bad upload - but strangely i can play 2v2 again, faf lobby works fine. As i tested udp packet loss with iperf (only get loss when i use up the whole bandwidth) i can't explain why this helped. I will report back if i get any information on the topic from O2.

Finally !

Would be nice that everybody having problems with mediaways confirm that it works now, so I can close the ticket I've opened at our server provider.

The packet loss problem seems to be resolved, indeed. I still wait for my upload to go >250kbit (which should be no problem as electrically the line is great). I guess this is an individual problem, please post if you have similar problems...
