The file wasn't properly sent by the server. Try again later

Postby LeoPhone » 08 Oct 2017, 17:14

The file wasn't properly sent by the server. Try again later.

This is the error message I receive whenever I try to join or host a match in FAF.
Last time I played is a few weeks ago, now after the update I get this.

I tried uninstall -> restart pc -> install on C drive. did not help.

Since the server doesn't seem to send the files properly i've asked some FAF user (thanks to ElKabong) to share his bin and gamedata folder (those have the files you need to play)

How to play FAF if you get the "The file wasn't properly sent by the server" error:
  • download the bin and gamedata folder from here
  • unzip the file and put the bin and gamedata folder into C:\ProgramData\FAForever\
  • ProgramData is a hidden folder in windows -> in order to see it you have to enable an option in the windows explorer to display hidden folders or simply copy paste the path into the explorer
  • should you get a prompt asking you to replace the files that are there (assuming you have some) then just say yes
  • once you've done that you should be able to host/join games via FAF

edit: none of this should be needed any more since the server does provide updates again
should you have issues with running the game/getting files from the server then chances are that your issue will NOT be fixed by this method
