direct3d error

Postby jand » 10 Sep 2017, 18:22

So 2 days ago the game crashed my pc when i shut it down from the after match results. Since then i get a direct3d error. (~direct3d can't be created. please ensure you have the latest graphics driver)
It's not only in faf, but also in steam and from the launcher so i don't think it has anything to do with faf.
Every other game works fine.
I updated my Nvidia graphic driver with no effect. I reinstalled directx from the game folder. I reinstalled the game 2 times now. I changed resolution in the game.pref file to my native one and then deleted it for the next try.
Still does nothing.

Also i have no monitor since a week and i'm using my laptop as monitor over wlan which works fine and is fast enough, but the strange thing is i can't get into nvidia graphic options anymore since it detects no plugged in monitor. In the beginning there was still the nvidia symbol in the taskbar which was telling me this but now it's gone too for whatever reason. It might have something to do with this. But still every other game runs fine. Also more hardware intensive stuff like fallout 4.

Any ideas?

Fallout4 and 'more hardware intensive stuff' is not using directx 9c. So this don't count here.

Supreme commander is using directx 9c. Is this installed on both computers ? Does your wlan monitor stuff support directx 9c ?
Is your GFX card displayed inside the hardwaremanager ? If not, maybe a Hardware issue ?
Can you start the game directly with doubleclick the .exe without any other program running ?

No i can't start the game in steam or directly.
The card is displayed in the manager.
The wlan stuff actually only does stream the picture so it doesn't matter. I was just thinking because there is no monitor connected the driver doesn't work properly or something but i think i'm wrong.

Ok i think it's directx 9c. You were right, the new games don't use it. I tested some old games now and they also don't work. So i guess i try uninstalling dx9 now and reinstalling. Did only overinstall yet because the uninstalling is some complicated process from what i read in google. I'll try that now.

Ok i found the problem now. I used another wlan screen software and faf starts with it at least (though it stays grey-screen). The problem is that with the software i use the resolution is not supported i guess. I'll try to fiddle with that. Strange that it worked in the beginning.
