Exception TypeError: object of type 'NoneType' has no len()

Postby DukeOfEarl » 25 Aug 2017, 09:48

If you have gotten this exception please reply here with the following info:

  • Your OS version
  • How is your FA connection set up: Do you use uPNP / port forwarding / DMZ mode? Do you use LAN or WLAN?
  • Your internet connection type and how well it tends to work for FAF: How often do you lose connection to other players usually, how often do you get client disconnects?

Then please download and install this test version: https://ci.appveyor.com/api/buildjobs/p ... -win32.msi

And report if you get the error again.

Windows 7 Ultimate SP1. no windows updates for about 3 years or so.
PC -> router -> internet. connected via LAN cables.
I have port forwarding set up, TCP and UDP on standart 6112 port. router does support upnp but longer client launch makes it annoying.
i have maximum of 100 up 100 down internet via 8 wire cable, pppoe. idk if that represents "internet connection type". faf updates, patches and other downloads do go fairly fast for me.
i rarely lose connection in 1v1, something like 1 in 50 games or so. and this does include all unknown reasons like electricity fails for other players.
it is really hard to remember how often i have connection issues. but it happens sometimes that i lose connection to some players. but pretty often connection issues are caused by other players (2 people lost connection but i am still connected to each of them).
i think i never get client disconnects. but sometimes my replays are happen to be not on replay server, but not too often. (last time i notcied it happening when i got this Exception error)
Will try with this test version when i have time.

Hello. I use windows 7 pro sp1 x64, no updates since 3/19/2016. I use port forwarding and LAN ( PC -> switch -> PC with pfsense -> fiber internet). Never had any problems in-game except for maybe some crash on my part. With the 0.16 rc1 (I think it was) and rc6 I started having problems joining 50% or more lobbies, getting the error, also got it in-game two times. After trying your test version I have not had any problems.

Windows 10 (home), uPNP, LAN.
Recently (past month or so) I've lost connection multiple times from both the lobby and in game. Before then connection issues were rare.

OS: Windows 10 Home
Connection: Standard connection, I did not change anything so I am not sure.

Disconnects: My internet usually works well with FAF, and have only started seeing issues as of this most recent update, but often seem to indicate an impending computer freeze.
Speciffically:
*Player disconnects very rare before this update, now slightly worse.
*Client disconnects very rare before this update.

This error has been occurring to me somewhat regularly (60%) of the time when I try to connect to a lobby.

- My OS is Win 10 Pro (15063.540)

- I have fiber optic service 150 up and down. Modem -> Router -> Powerline AV500 LAN Bridge -> Computer

- I don't usually have many connection issues with FAF. My connection and speed are not usually a source of game slowdown when I am connected in games. I have played about 160 games over the past 6 months and only started receiving the error since the last update.

I will try out the test version and update my post in the future.

Regards,
Kanehdian
