Client download does not start

New computer with Windows Turd, er 10
FA is installed via disc
When I try to download the client from FAForever it spins the wheel then eventually stops, nothing happens.

I checked the frequent issues, closest was anti-virus (none on machine, it came with McAfee but you can't play games with that crap on your machine so that got uninstalled quickly).
Windows Firewall is disabled for download, still no joy.

Any suggestions?

Where exactly are you downloading the client from?

It has a redirect to GitHub, tried directly from there and it wouldn't start either. Other downloads during this time have commenced normally.

Hmm, between the time I answered and went back, it now worked. Not certain, but someone may have just fixed a link or such, I didn't change anything on this end.

If you download something from the Github release page (https://github.com/faforever/client/releases) using your web browser, then it's all between your browser, your ISP, and Github. FAF has zero influence over that.

Occasionally, Github's storage backend (Amazon S3) experiences outages, but that is extremely rare.

So this problem was most likely caused by your internet connection.
