Cursor Missing In Game

Postby Deribus » 01 Aug 2017, 17:51

Recently I upgraded to a 4k monitor, and I ran Supreme Commander through Steam once in order to change the resolution to 4k, which seemed to work fine. However, now my cursor in FAF is invisible, both in game and in the lobby (not the client however), and the Steam version refuses to launch. At this point I've tried several things, none of which seemed to help.

Stuff I've tried:
Running the monitor in 4k
Running the monitor in 1080p
Lowering the resolution in FAF back down to 1080p
Reinstalling FAF
Reinstalling Supreme Commander
Restarting my computer
Updating Windows
Updating Nvidia Drivers
Running FAF on a different, 1080p monitor

At this point I have no idea what else to try, and I am looking for ideas on how to fix the issue.

I never had this problem, but maybe this can help:

If you changed your font/text DPI scaling in windows, reset it to 100%
If you tryed to make thinks in windows bigger, because of the high resolution, set it back to normal
If you use any Magnifier in windows, disable it.

If nothing worked, try to set the game to windowed mode.

If steam refuses to launch, delete the game config file from SupCom:
Code: Select all
"C:\Users\_YourName_\AppData\Local\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance\Game.prefs"

I changed that, didn't help

I'm not sure what you mean
If you use any Magnifier in windows, disable it.

I don't use it

That actually worked! Thanks! However, I see this as a temporary fix, as I would prefer to play in Full Screen.

That didn't seem to work. At first it didn't make a new one, but running FAF again made a new config file. However in both situations it still wouldn't run through Steam.

Maybe we can start the game if we change the desktop resolution.

Set your desktop to 1920x1080, delete the game.prefs again, check your gamefiles inside steam and try to start the game over steam again.

Maybe we need a restart of windows after setting the DPI back to 100% ?
Could work.

That works, but it's not practical and then when you're done playing FA/FAF you need to change your DPI to whatever it was and restart the PC again.

FA's age is really starting to show in some places unfortunately.
