Unable to install

The Forged.Alliance.Forever-0.12.4-win.32 available on FAF's Homepage is not installing on my computer. The installer runs through the various steps and provides status updates: validating install, updating component registration, copying new files etc. but does not create create a folder of files in Program Files(x86) and also does not create a desktop shortcut. When I try to uninstall, again, it displays the correct status updates but gives error 1910 shortcut not found (because no shortcut was created). Microsoft troubleshoot gives no suggestions, and upon confirming that troubleshoot has not resolved the problem, troubleshoot detects additional issues: "Incompatible Program," but this doesn't seem right because I run windows 8.1. I used to have FAF, installed about a year ago, but I deleted the shortcut, although I don't believe I uninstalled the files. I recently tried to install the current version from the webpage, but it has been completely ineffectual as described above. Searching my computer through windows explorer yields no evidence of either version of FAF. I'm sorry if I broke protocol on reporting issues but I didn't find any protocol for reporting issues that occured before installing.

This sounds like a really tough problem to debug - setting python up to produce an installer is a really messy piece of work. I don't know how I can help you with that, but if you're feeling lucky, you can try this link:

It's a develop client version that had some shakeups in the installation code, maybe it'll work.
