Desync (connectivity table)!

Postby spcvg » 29 Mar 2017, 20:04

So played a game, game starts all looks good for like 10 minuts or so and the connectivity table appears and it shows that i am not connected to another guy dont know if its the game files or my connection is bad but it wont resync again and one of us has to leave, after 50 seconds i can eject the other guy. Its like almost every second game or almost every game (amount of time played does not matter ) so here are the logs i hope someone can help me figure out the problem, if its the connection well then i know but if its some kinda game file then let me know ty! Just throwing this in here, in steam when i play the original supreme commander forged alliance, go to matchmaking and start a game with 8 people, then this stuff almost never happens and if it does everyone can see the same guy and eject the same guy, and i mean it really happens like 1 game of out 50 or so and with random people not the same people all the time, so i dont know what to think here if that is my game file that is corrupted or my connection is just full of crap!

After checking the log file:

you can see in line 1691:
Code: Select all
1691 | warning: Connection dialogue opening due to disconnection by players:

But no sim-desync occurred.

This means, you disconnected from "AmeiZen" because of your/his internet connection, or "AmeiZen" crashed or closed (ALT+F4) the game.

This was no desync because of different game files. In this case it was a disconnect.

Thank you for checking it out and the telling me, but would it not resync becuase there are cases where me and the other guy get disconnected to eachother and everyone else can still speak to me and the other guy why would it not resync ?

This is purely speculation on my part so take it with a grain of salt:
When someone disconnects and the game is not synced at the time then the remaining simulations may not agree on which info is the correct one. Usually this leads to replays not being synced and in the worst case scenario the ongoing game session can desync as well.

Hopefully we will be able to reduce the amount of disconnects due to connectivity with the ICE adapter.

Also speculation, but I think the reason desyncs when someone disconnects are so common is because some clients get the leaver's last commands and some don't. Think of it this way: You have a game with players A,B,C, and D. A and B get disconnected right as A issues an order but the game doesn't realize at first. C and D get A's last command but B doesn't because of the disconnection. Then when A leaves, A's units are doing something different for B than they are for C and D. Even when someone disconnects from everyone at once the same situation is possible, but far less likely.
