FAF client issue

Postby Elko-Aira » 28 Mar 2017, 19:03

Hello everyone, I`ve got some problems with launching faf client. I downloaded it from official faf site , installed it in C/program files directory, but seems it doesn`t work, it writes "an error has occurred in the faf". Tried to delete folders in /programdata/ForgedAllianceForerver, tried to run from administrator and w/o it...also tried to get all permissions to these folders...didn`t help...here is my log.
P.S. I also have problem with SCFA launch, dont react to anything, but it shows in process list and dont create any log. Tried to run from admin and use compatibility with xp3, and there is no .prefs files in /local/supreme commander forged alliance directory, ...strange...and original SC works normally, so I hope faf client could solve problem with SCFA launch, but it doesn`t works either...Please help, dear developers and kind users :3
P.P.S. sorry for bad english, hope you will understand me...

I can't help you with FA problems, but the client problem will be fixed, thank you for your report.

I'm looking into it right now. Do you have non-ascii (like cyryllic) characters in your username or password? It looks to me like the code is trying to format a string using username & password and fails to handle a 'я' character.

It's loading these from your config file. Could you open the 'Fa Lobby.ini' file (it should be in 'C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\ForgedAllianceForever') and look for the section that looks like this:

Code: Select all
[user]
remember=true
login=<login>
password=<password>

Don't post the password bit, but tell me if the '<login>' or '<password>' have non-ascii characters.

(It also seems that some code is trying to use these to set up some links before we even log in - quite a mess. I can't wait to fix that.)

I'd still love to know if the non-ascii characters were in the username or in the password - it'd help us with debugging plenty.

Hmm...that non-ascii...I've already changed it but I dont remember non-ascii characters...maybe it was, if you noticed "я" charcter...there was long-long password with numbers and latin characters and strange login name...smth like xxxx/ xxxx/ xxxx/... and so on...(x-number or latin character). Hope I make something clear about this issue...

Yeah, that helped - it means non-ascii characters were in the username (the \xxxx notation is just the quirky way qt saves unicode strings). Thanks!
