Game Very Laggy

I have a very fast computer I was using to play at home, both offline and online, with no problems and no lag. Lately, I moved the computer to my office and have noticed a great deal of lag when playing online. Here are the results of a bandwidth test:

FAF off: 1.8-2.5 Mbps
FAF on: 1.7-1.9 Mbps

I don't know how reliable these numbers are, as another Linux computer attached to the same network switch clocks in at 5.79 Mbps

The only other thing worth mentioning is that at my previous location, I had static ips assigned to each computer, and used port forwarding to forward port 6112 to this computer so as to play online. Here, It just worked out of the box, so I never bothered (also don't have access to router yet). In fact, I have two computers here, and I can do a faf online/network game between the two. If I recall correctly, there was no lag.

What steps should I take to fix this problem?

What do you mean "FAF Off" ? Online gameplay will consume bandwidth, does that sound so weird ?
