So Sunday was the last time I had played before today. When I finished then, my rating was about 1400ish. When I logged on today and opened up a game, I saw rating: 1768. I hastily checked the leaderboards, and sure enough, I had not played any extra games, but had seemed to have been awarded ~300 points. I won all my games today, and now my rating is over 1850. Don't get me wrong, I like being #24 on the ladder, but it seems rather undeserved. Is this some really weird mistake?

Your score should be dark grey. That's mean that it's still adjusting a lot, so, it's perfectly normal.

probably one or two games, that didnt have reported on sunday when you last checked, finally reported (takes several hours for some games, if a player didnt disconnect properly)

Your real rating isnt 1768, it could be between 1300 and 2100. The system takes a while to figure out what sort of player you are. You have 2 numbers associated with your account, your rating and a deviation. You dont get to see the deviation but as you play more games this number gets smaller and your rating gets closer to the truth.

Dont panic too much about your rating until you have played over 30 games, 40 is a better measure tho.

That's right. The correctness of your rating is represented by his color in the FA. A black/dark grey rating means that you shouldn't even bother reading it.
