Sorry fixed it by following the instructions here : viewtopic.php?f=3&p=119443#p119443

indeed the faf.msi file found on the faforever website works.

welp that lasted two games and now even if I reinstall I can't get a game going. I forgot to mention in the original post but I can't join custom either.

also everytime there's an update I have to restart FAF three times (three times exactly everytime : I've reproduced this 5 times already with all the updates there's been it's the same exact thing everytime) for clicking "yes" to download the update to work. the first three tries it just closes the dialog and does nothing and on the fourth start of faf always without fail ... it starts downloading.

this is the weirdest thing.

EDIT : also current version works for me : 0.11.47+348

and I can't matchmake anymore. sometime it just does nothing sometimes it starts up FA and then I'm stuck on the "setting up automatch" screen.

as a matter of fact I've got a success rate for joining games at around 40%
