Nuke change (is this possible)

Postby SJAndrew » 29 Apr 2012, 17:01

During my last game, I was frustrated by a mistake I made while nuking an enemy (a mistake the cost me the game).

I clicked the nuke, picked his base, and went along my merry way to focus on the other enemy (it was a 2v1 as my partner was dead). Several minutes later I noticed that the nuke landed way off map without a single kill.

Upon watching the replay, I determined that when I clicked his base that I actually clicked a plane above his base. The plane flew away making the nuke worthless.

If there any way to disable this? Why would you ever want to nuke a plane or a unit?

I realize my error now and will not reproduce it. But, I wonder if the targeting of the nuke could be changed such that it won't default target units but instead coordinates.

Thoughts?

Was the game a bit laggy at that point?

Not that you gave the order over the enemy base, but caused by the lag, the computer reacted while your mouse was somewhere else moving around on the screen?

ive never managed that...ive managed to hit a czar mid air accidentally with a stategic sub as he was about to depth charge it to oblivion i thought 'why not :D ' instantly blew it up and it fell just off the coast so he couldnt reclaim it i was rather pleased
we had a large laugh about that on the replay :)

like most people tho, i wasnt aware the nukes could track, i would have though that would turn longer games into a camp fest, as armys would now need antinuke coverage
