Cant start a game

Postby ILastSamuraiI » 27 Apr 2012, 21:48

I installed FA and Vanilla via Steam. If I start fa it works fine.
Then I installed FAF (fa still works). But if I want to start a game in FAF there is always an error with the fa.exe.

FA Path is: D:\Programme\Steam\steamapps\common\supreme commander forged alliance
FAF Path: D:\Spiele\Forged Alliance Forever

But the exe that crashes is somehow still in C:\ProgramData\FAForever\bin .

and from the error Log: 2012-04-27 20:54:00,309 WARNING faf.client FA has finished with exit code: -1073740771

Any help would be great! Wann play again ;)

I reinstalled the FAF Client today under Steamapps/.../binfaf (found that somewhere) and it still does not work. However I found a FAinstaller.exe.log with some errors:

Could that be a problem?

You didn't set a correct FA path. (option, settings, game path).

in c:\ProgramData\FAForever\
check what is inside fa_path.lua.

But it still does not work :(

Edit: The appcrash error msg always tells me that forgedalliance.exe ist Version 1.5.0.1. Isnt that a very old one?? How is that possible.. steam should autoupdate that ?!

ok last update:

i just copied the steam .exe into the faf folder. It does not work there too. Same error.
So could there be a problem with faf on C: and steam and fa on D: ??

Is there a special place where you have to install it?

No, it's not related.

Maybe you need some VC redistributable that Steam version doesn't need.

The steam version is not officially supported by FAF, I can't help you more (I never tested it with FAF).
