FA mission 2 crashing computer

Postby Fordwell » 05 Nov 2015, 23:31

After 4-8 mins of playing the second mission of the FA campaign my computer crashes (and to be clear I mean the whole computer goes black, monitor goes to sleep, the whole shebang. Tried it 4 times now with same result each time), I have been able to play every other mission I have tried without issue from start to finish, it appears to just be that one. I would provide the replay to it but I'm new and don't really know how to do that. Either way, here is the logs:

How does your computer crash exactly? Does it freeze up and go to blackscreen? Does it shutdown after a bit? How do you resolve the issue (can you force a shutdown with the power button)?
Maybe it is only crashing your GPU driver, causing the black screen, but that seems unlikely if it's just this one mission causing the issue. One way to find out more information about a system crash would be to look through your Windows event log. Just open the log (search for "event" in start menu and open Windows Event Viewer), navigate to "Windows Logs" > "System" and either filter for errors or look for the time and date shortly before your computer crashed.

Computer screen goes black and unresponsive, after a few seconds the monitor comes up with its "monitor going to sleep" message and turns off, computer at this point while still unresponsive will power down with the reset button on the tower itself. (power button does not need to be held) checking the event logs shows just 1 related item: "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.", which to me seems less like it is telling me what is wrong and more like it is telling me I reset the computer not using the shutdown button in the start menu. (also for reference while there are some other errors in the log nothing for about 10 mins before the shutdown occurred (to get these logs I reproduced the crash and on this particular instance the crash happened 2:57 into the game so the game hadn't even been launched that long)

That sounds pretty weird... Is anything still writing log entries after the computer locks up, but before shutdown? That would mean that your PC doesn't freeze up completely.
If you've really tried everything and the computer doesn't respond to any input except the power button, then I'm not sure what could be causing this. A GPU driver crash would normally be recorded in the event log, so it probably isn't that.
Maybe someone who knows more about the inner workings of FA can help you out :) .
