Sound problems

I have sound problems in FAF. Usually when a game starts all sounds are working, but then at some time some sounds are not working anymore like the voice that says "commander under attack", or the commander walking-sound, or even gun sounds. So at some point I only have the background music left, and sometimes even that disappears.

I have deleted the game.prefs but it didn't help. Then I have uninstalled FA (via Steam) and FAF lobby, and deleted the data folder (C:\Users\[My Name]\AppData\Local\Gas Powered Games\Supreme Commander Forged Alliance), and reinstalled everything again, but it still didn't solve the problem.

Rebooting the computer doesn't help either.

I had this problem last night. To fix it I used a reverted to a windows restore point. (It said it reverted a skype and chrome update).

My test was to make a first lab and shoot the ground. The first two shots I could hear, but none of the following shots.
I also tested it with the steam version (to rule out any FAF bugs) and got the same problem. And I ruled out game.prefs like you.

Anihilnine do you have Windows 10?

I have a clean Windows 8 install and very soon after that a Windows 10 upgrade, and I don't want to revert to a Windows restore point, I don't want to mess up the Windows upgrades and stuff. I hope there are other solutions...

The restore thing isn't bad, so long as you have a recent restore point.

The alternative solution would be to search for other people having sound issues after a skype/chrome upgrade. Then try uninstalling both.

I don't have Skype on my pc. Are you sure this problem is related to Skype or Chrome?

Please attach your game.log file so we can see if your game is having any issues.

I do suspect this to be a non-faf issue and a problem with your environment.

Please tell me where I can find game.log. I can't find it using DOS command prompt and "dir game.log /s" from the root on both my drives. I found a lot of SupCom / FAF related folders but no game.log:

You need to turn on game logging in faf client. options, setting, turn on game logs

You have surround or stereo? I have similar issue when i forget to turn my surround to 5.1 (defautl settings, but for some non 5.1 movies i swith it to stereo)

Thanks for explaining how to turn logging on, and I turned it on. I will play some games and upload the game.log. And I have stereo so I guess the surround settings don't apply here.
