Issue with multiple game instances/ports

Hi, I've played on FAF for just under a year and all of a sudden have started having an odd, recurring problem. When i join a lobby, I usually cannot connect to several players, only the host, and when I leave the lobby, I cannot rejoin any games at all. Instead, I get the message "You can only have one instance of Forged Alliance running". When I pulled up Task Manager, SupCom FA was not running, as I thought. As a result, I close FAF and get the message "SupCom FA is still running! Hit Alt+Tab to open it" and of course I cannot open it with that, since it is not running After this happens I hit "terminate" below this message and the window that says it is terminating the program says "not responding" indefinitely, 'till i close it with task manager. After this, I cannot open FAF again because it is "already running" or there is another program listening on a port. The number of the port changes; sometimes it is 6112 and other times it is different, like port 15000. This has happened 3 times now, and I decided to come here to see if anyone could help.

Any ideas what is causing this or how to fix it? (if you need computer specs or other info just ask )
