Lost certain sounds - Pings and announcements silent

Postby Vekisis » 27 Oct 2014, 12:08

I've looked on every setting in game for this, even reinstalled the core game, but nothing seems to have worked. I can't hear any pings, or when my ACU is under fire, or the sound effects that pop up when you open the menu in-game. It's really frustrating, and I can't figure out where it came from.

I have heard about those issues before, I am kinda doing research on this problem, it seems to be related to game language.
Do you use English language in game?
Where did you install game? Was it English when you just installed it?
Changing language back to language of installation may help here, but you better wait what someone else said :)

I'm pretty monolingual, so English would always be the option of choice. I also did all of the updates for everything I have, so that can't be it either.

I did some testing, and when my commander gets hit, the volume of the rest of the game goes down (as it does, when you're being alerted) but nothing is said. It's similar to how mumble lowers the volumes of other programs when someone is talking.

That's not Mumble turning the volume down, that's Windows itself.

It's a "feature" you can turn off.

Solved - my speakers were set to play at Surround 5.1, and going to stereo fixed it.

I had the same problem, but also had my speakers set to 5.1. It's fixed now by setting it to stereo.
